we love
the work
we do.

Our relationships with our customers and team members are guided by the core principles behind our name: Vision, Focus and Passion. These three words keep us thinking about the future and growing as consultants, Salesforce and FinancialForce implementation experts, colleagues, and partners. We embrace challenges. We love solving problems. And we have a great time working with new organizations and complex engagements.

Principal Consultant

At VFP Consulting, we believe in hiring great people, not just great resumés. We create value for our clients through exceptional service: providing knowledgeable recommendations, identifying and mitigating risk, and challenging the status quo.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AT VFP

This is a chance to join a small, ambitious team where your work actually matters. Whether you’re coming from a massive firm or a similar environment, you’ll have a hand in building our future, growing your own skills, and enjoying the work along the way.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Principal Consultant is a senior consulting leader who oversees multiple complex and strategically important client engagements simultaneously, spanning the full Salesforce and Certinia ecosystem rather than a single platform, product, or functional area. Clients look to you to navigate uncertainty, set strategic direction, guide difficult decisions, and ensure their technology investments solve meaningful business problems. In this role, you will serve as an expert advisor, a trusted partner to client leadership, and a mentor to other team members. You will turn broad goals into clear, actionable strategies, build alignment across client stakeholders, and help our teams deliver stronger outcomes through coaching, collaboration, and shared best practices.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Client Advisory and Relationship Leadership

  • Build and sustain trusted-advisor relationships with client executives, sponsors, and business stakeholders across multiple concurrent engagements.
  • Translate client business objectives into practical consulting strategies, guiding discovery, prioritization, platform adoption, and roadmap decisions across the Salesforce and Certinia ecosystem.
  • Facilitate difficult stakeholder conversations, resolve competing priorities, and help reset scope, timing, or expectations before issues escalate.
  • Identify opportunities to create additional client value through platform expansion, process improvement, managed services, or technology and consulting capabilities.

Engagement and Delivery Leadership

  • Lead full engagements or major workstreams from discovery and solution design through configuration, testing, change management, go-live, and adoption.
  • Apply VFP’s standard delivery methodology across assigned engagements, recommending practical adjustments based on engagement complexity, client needs, and delivery considerations.
  • Identify delivery risks, scope creep, dependencies, and resourcing concerns, and raise them early enough to support informed decisions and protect timeline, quality, budget, and client confidence.
  • Provide senior consulting input into scope-change and change-order discussions, evaluate business priorities, solution impacts, and delivery considerations with client partnerships.
  • Prepare and deliver executive recommendations, solution guidance, and strategic decision support that advance client engagements.

Consulting and Solution Expertise

  • Apply VFP consulting judgment and delivery methodology across discovery, business analysis, solution design, implementation planning, and organizational change activities.
  • Evaluate complex client requirements, resolve competing priorities, and provide actionable recommendations that align with business goals and objectives.
  • Challenge assumptions constructively when a proposed direction creates delivery, security, adoption, scalability, or business risk.
  • Maintain broad business and technical fluency across the Salesforce and Certinia ecosystem and the end-to-end quote-to-cash lifecycle, while developing deeper expertise in select product, industry, and delivery areas that strengthen client outcomes.

Team Leadership and Practice Development

  • Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, delegation, and quality review to consultants staffed on assigned engagements while retaining accountability for the final work product and client outcome.
  • Develop team members through actionable feedback, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and creation of learning resources.
  • Create and refine reusable frameworks, templates, accelerators, and documentation that improve delivery quality and consistency.
  • Contribute to proposals, statements of work, estimates, renewals, and pre-sales scoping based on delivery experience and client needs.

Operational, Financial, and Technology Stewardship

  • Maintain awareness of engagement scope, budget, forecast, utilization, quality, and client satisfaction, identifying financial and resourcing risks early enough to support timely action.
  • Leverage VFP project and portfolio reporting to assess engagement health, identify trends and concerns, and inform recommendations for key stakeholders.
  • Stay current on enterprise technology releases, product roadmaps, and platform governance practices to advise clients on upgrade, release management, security, and administration strategies.
  • Use company-approved AI-assisted and automation tools to support documentation, analysis, testing, and delivery while validating outputs and complying with VFP and client security, privacy, and confidentiality requirements.

TECHNOLOGY AND PLATFORM EXPERTISE

VFP delivers integrated technology and consulting solutions that connect project delivery, resourcing, financial management, and reporting. Principal Consultants are expected to work fluently across both the technology platforms and the consulting practices that tie these functions together, applying modern tools that make delivery more efficient, reliable, and secure.

Day-One Expertise

  • Understanding of end-to-end Quote-to-Cash (QTC) processes, including quoting, contracting, billing, and revenue recognition
  • Experience with Certinia PSA or Financials, and the ability to advise clients on processes and problem-solving behind solution decisions.
  • Experience using cloud-based business platforms and professional-services delivery tools, including reporting and analytics, project management, knowledge management, and collaboration systems.
  • Understanding data migration, connecting systems, and managing platform governance in enterprise implementations.

Expected and Supported on the Job

  • Use approved AI and automation capabilities to support appropriate delivery activities while validating accuracy, applying sound judgment, and protecting confidential information.
  • Apply appropriate data-privacy, security, and confidentiality practices when selecting tools and handling client information.
  • Evaluate technology based on client value, usability, security, scalability, adoption, and implementation risk.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience.
  • 10+ years of professional experience, with a solid background in consulting or services.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale enterprise transformations through technology implementations, business transformation initiatives, consulting engagements, or comparable industry experience involving complex business processes and stakeholder environments.
  • Experience independently leading complex, multi-workstream, multi-stakeholder client engagements from discovery through go-live and adoption.
  • Experience working directly with executives, including difficult conversations communicating risk and managing escalations.
  • Experience coaching, delegating, and helping other consultants grow through feedback and coaching.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into functional solutions through structured, analytical problem-solving.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience leading advisory engagements such as solution selection, operating-model design, process redesign, organizational change, or team-building initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success working with complex organizations and navigating business, operational, organizational, and stakeholder challenges through consulting engagements or direct industry roles.
  • Formal project or program management training or certification, such as PMP.
  • Experience contributing to proposals, statements of work, level-of-effort estimates, renewals, or pre-sales scoping.
  • Experience developing consulting methodology, reusable templates, accelerators, or training content.
  • Industry-specific domain expertise relevant to VFP clients.
  • Experience with data migration or integration tools such as Salesforce Data Loader, Informatica, Jitterbit, or comparable solutions.
  • Relevant Salesforce certifications, such as Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator or Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder.
  • Relevant Certinia Implementation Consultant or Sysadmin certifications for Professional Services Cloud/PSA and/or Financial Management Cloud.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Client leaders trust you because of your judgment, communication, and ability to get things done.
  • Engagements operate with clear governance and success measures, and delivery risks are identified, communicated, and managed early.
  • Recommendations, status updates, and client communications are consistently executive-ready and require minimal revision.
  • Consultants working with you improve through effective coaching, delegation, feedback, and quality review.
  • You contribute reusable methods, templates, accelerators, proposals, or insights that strengthen VFP delivery and client value.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Strategic Consulting and Solution Judgment: Makes sound solution-direction calls under ambiguity, and can explain the reasoning behind them to a client executive.
  • Executive Client Leadership and Communication: Earns trust with client leadership through candor, follow-through, and business judgment, not just technical skill.
  • Complex Problem-Solving and Business Analysis: Turns messy, sometimes conflicting requirements into a clear, prioritized recommendation.
  • Delivery, Risk, and Commercial Awareness: Understands how scope, budget, resourcing, and delivery decisions affect engagement health and client outcomes, identifying risks early enough to support timely action.
  • Coaching, Delegation, and Quality Leadership: Makes the consultants around them measurably better through feedback and delegation, not just review.
  • Accountability, Adaptability, and Continuous Improvement: Owns the outcomes of their engagements, including those that go wrong, and keeps refining how VFP delivers.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

VFP Consulting offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support employee well-being and professional growth that includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage; retirement savings; paid time off; flexible remote work; professional development and certification support; and other programs and perks.
  • This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus in accordance with company plan terms.
