the work
we do.

Our relationships with our customers and team members are guided by the core principles behind our name: Vision, Focus and Passion. These three words keep us thinking about the future and growing as consultants, Salesforce and FinancialForce implementation experts, colleagues, and partners. We embrace challenges. We love solving problems. And we have a great time working with new organizations and complex engagements.

Senior Project Manager

At VFP Consulting, we believe in hiring great people, not just great resumés. We create value for our clients through exceptional service: providing knowledgeable recommendations, identifying and mitigating risk, and challenging the status quo.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AT VFP

This is a chance to join a small, ambitious team where your work actually matters. Whether you’re coming from a big firm or a similar environment, you’ll have a hand in building our future, growing your own skills, and enjoying the work along the way.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Project Manager is a senior delivery leader who independently manages VFP’s complex, high-risk, or strategically important client engagements. Clients look to you to navigate uncertainty, coordinate multiple workstreams, and provide clear, executive-level direction that keeps engagements and programs on track.

In this role, you will lead delivery governance, serve as a trusted advisor to client leadership, and coach Project Managers and delivery team members. You will establish the structure, accountability, and communication needed to manage risk, lead difficult conversations, and deliver successful outcomes.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Complex Project and Program Leadership

  • Collaboratively lead complex, high-risk, multi-workstream client engagements or coordinated programs from sales handoff through stabilization and closeout.
  • Confirm scope, assumptions, contractual commitments, governance, resource needs, and client responsibilities before delivery begins.
  • Develop and maintain an integrated plan covering workstreams, milestones, dependencies, resources, risks, client responsibilities, and key decisions.
  • Coordinate consultants, technical teams, client departments, vendors, and leadership groups so the engagement operates as one coordinated delivery effort.
  • Drive deliverable acceptance, transition, stabilization, lessons learned, and engagement closeout, with clear ownership of remaining actions.
  • Track delivery against intended business outcomes and benefits, not solely scope and schedule commitments.

Executive and Client Stakeholder Management

  • Prepare and deliver executive-ready reporting that translates complex project information into clear risks, decisions, recommendations, and next steps.
  • Lead steering-committee meetings and senior stakeholder discussions, serving as a lead voice for VFP delivery.
  • Build alignment among client sponsors, delivery teams, vendors, and VFP leaders regarding priorities, commitments, dependencies, and decisions.
  • Lead difficult discussions involving scope, budget, timeline, resources, quality, responsibilities, or client expectations, escalating when leadership approval or intervention is needed.

Governance, Risk, and Change Leadership

  • Establish effective governance structures, including decision rights, escalation paths, delivery cadences, reporting standards, and accountability practices.
  • Identify and manage delivery, resource, scope, quality, budget, forecast, dependency, and schedule risks before they materially affect the engagement.
  • Maintain clear RAID and decision records, assign ownership, and drive mitigation and resolution activities.
  • Lead change-control processes so scope changes are identified, assessed, estimated, documented, and approved in partnership with the appropriate VFP leaders.
  • Establish and monitor deliverable quality standards, review cycles, and defect/issue resolution processes across workstreams.

Financial and Commercial Stewardship

  • Monitor project financials, forecasts, budgets, resource utilization, and performance indicators (e.g., earned value, schedule/cost variance), communicating material variances and recommended actions early.
  • Develop and maintain the engagement resource plan, coordinating staffing requirements, capacity constraints, and assignment changes with Delivery leadership.
  • Contribute delivery expertise to statements of work, estimates, resource plans, and change orders.
  • Provide Delivery leadership with timely visibility into engagement health, resource needs, capacity constraints, and material delivery risks.

Team Leadership and Coaching

  • Coach Project Managers and delivery team members through meaningful delegation, feedback, quality review, and practical problem-solving.
  • Review project plans, status reports, RAID logs, governance materials, and executive communications for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
  • Hold teams accountable to VFP’s standards for documentation, communication, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Create an environment where team members understand their responsibilities, raise concerns early, and collaborate toward client outcomes.

Delivery Coordination and Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate delivery across discovery, design, configuration, development, integration, data migration, testing, training, deployment, adoption, and stabilization while partnering with consultants and architects on functional and technical decisions.
  • Ensure project documentation, governance records, status information, financial data, and forecasts remain accurate and decision-ready.
  • Contribute to VFP’s project-management methods, templates, dashboards, governance standards, training, and lessons learned.
  • Use approved AI, analytics, reporting, and automation tools to improve delivery visibility, documentation, and efficiency while validating accuracy and protecting client information.

TECHNOLOGY AND PLATFORM EXPERTISE

VFP delivers Salesforce and Certinia solutions that connect project delivery, resourcing, financial management, and reporting. Senior Project Managers are expected to understand these systems well enough to plan, sequence, govern, and de-risk the work without serving as the engagement’s primary system configurator or solution architect.

Day-One Expertise

  • Working knowledge of enterprise project and program-management practices, including integrated planning, dependency management, RAID management, governance, and change control.
  • Experience applying Agile, predictive, and hybrid delivery approaches, tailoring governance and rigor to engagement complexity and client organizational maturity.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce records, reports, dashboards, implementation lifecycles, and release concepts, sufficient to interpret technical status and delivery dependencies.
  • Experience with Certinia Professional Services Cloud or a comparable professional services automation platform, including resourcing, forecasting, project financials, and engagement reporting.
  • Ability to build and interpret executive dashboards and decision-oriented reporting using project, resource, and financial data.

Expected and Supported on the Job

  • Use approved AI and automation capabilities to support appropriate delivery activities while validating accuracy, applying sound judgment, and protecting confidential information.
  • Apply appropriate data-privacy, security, and confidentiality practices when selecting tools and handling client information.
  • Evaluate technology based on client value, usability, security, scalability, adoption, and implementation risk.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of relevant project, program, technology-delivery, or professional-services experience, including substantial experience leading client-facing implementation engagements.
  • Demonstrated success independently leading complex, multi-workstream cloud, Salesforce, Certinia, or comparable enterprise-technology implementations.
  • Experience managing scope, schedules, budgets, forecasts, resources, quality, risks, dependencies, change control, and contractual deliverables.
  • Experience coordinating distributed client teams, functional and technical resources, leadership stakeholders, and third-party vendors.
  • Experience preparing and presenting decision-oriented project or program reporting to executives and steering committees.
  • Experience leading difficult discussions involving scope, budget, timelines, resources, quality, responsibilities, or client expectations.
  • Experience contributing to statements of work, estimates, resource plans, change orders, and sales-to-delivery transitions.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, or reviewing the work of Project Managers or other delivery professionals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience.
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, negotiation, and analytical skills, with sound judgment about when executive, commercial, functional, or technical involvement is needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Project Management Professional or Program Management Professional certification.
  • PMI-ACP, Certified ScrumMaster, PRINCE2, or comparable Agile or delivery training.
  • Relevant Salesforce certifications or demonstrated Salesforce ecosystem experience.
  • Project-delivery experience with Certinia Professional Services Cloud or a comparable professional services automation platform.
  • Experience leading complex Salesforce, Certinia, or comparable enterprise-technology implementations.
  • Prior experience in a Salesforce, Certinia, cloud-technology, or professional-services consulting environment.
  • Experience leading integration, data-migration, user-acceptance-testing, release-management, training, adoption, or organizational-change workstreams.
  • Experience improving project-management methodologies, templates, dashboards, governance practices, or internal training.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Complex engagements maintain clear governance, executive alignment, documented decisions, and consistent delivery practices.
  • Scope, schedule, budget, forecast, resources, quality, dependencies, and client responsibilities remain visible and actively managed.
  • Material risks, issues, and changes are identified early, assigned clear owners, and managed through resolution or appropriate escalation.
  • Executive reporting gives client and VFP leadership a clear, accurate, and decision-oriented view of engagement health and next steps.
  • Multiple workstreams, teams, vendors, and client stakeholders operate as one coordinated delivery effort.
  • Deliverable acceptance, transition, stabilization, and closeout activities are completed with clear ownership and documentation.
  • Project Managers and delivery team members strengthen their planning, communication, risk management, and client leadership capabilities through coaching and quality review.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Complex Project and Program Leadership: Integrates multiple workstreams, teams, dependencies, and priorities into a coordinated delivery approach.
  • Executive Communication and Stakeholder Alignment: Communicates complex information clearly and builds alignment around risks, decisions, responsibilities, and next steps.

  • Coaching, Delegation, and Quality Leadership: Develops others through meaningful ownership, clear feedback, practical guidance, and thoughtful review.
  • Accountability and Adaptability: Takes ownership of engagement outcomes and adjusts plans and communication as circumstances change.
  • Responsible Technology and AI Use: Uses approved technology, AI, and automation appropriately while validating accuracy and protecting confidential information.
